To encourage overseas Chinese students to come to Taiwan to learn professional skills, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) established the Overseas Youth Vocational Training Program (OYVTP) in 1963 so that these students, after finishing their leaning, can go back to their hometown to facilitate local economic development, and expand trade interaction with Taiwan. Over decades, OYVTP has nurtured over 20,000 people in various industrial fields around the world. Starting from this year, in response to 4 major global industrial trends, namely manufacture, information technology, long-term care management and advanced vehicle technology, OCAC has upgraded the original OYVTP into the 2-Year Associate Degree Program. With more internship opportunities, it is hoped that more talents can be cultivated for the growing industries.
